No sales tax, high property taxes.
Potentially yes, when the west coast falls into the pacific.
Same sort of thing is happening here with new people moving in. Presumably, you get Californians, but we've seen a mass migration of Minnesotans, Iowans, and Wisconsinites. Cold weather here seems to keep the California liberal at bay, but it does nothing to keep the next-door neighbors away.
Actually, I was acquainted with the Billings family but never had any desire to move to Montana.
It's happening - though I doubt the entire state will run blue.
Saw the Tetons last year with the wife while also seeing Yellowstone. Stayed in West Yellowstone. You're right, it is beautiful country.
Good luck keeping the liberals at bay.
Have they got an opening for a planner/scheduler at one of the refineries petrochem or power plants? The wife is tired of the Texas panhandle already.
Good Luck!
As population increases, freedom decreases.
And like everyone else, you will lean left--and likely not even realize it.
I've been to Montana at least 25 times when I was younger and lived there for a short time near Hamilton. Unless you have a job waiting for you, don't go. And snow coming out of the mountains in June is no fun either. Forget it. It is also overrun with Californians who want to remake it in the image of California. Even as far back as 1975 there were bumper stickers "don't Californicate Montana" on cars and trucks there. I recently saw a program about Kalispell, where the libs were fighting with conservatives (portrayed as rednecked reacationaries) were evil and taking over the state. I used to love to visit there in years past but no more. The liberal cry babies have taken over the reins of power. When the mayor of Kalispell (a woman) wanted to talk about "healing" I knew the ballgame was over.
What was once a fine state is indeed drifting left and likely to become a Democratic state in future presidential elections. Wyoming, Idaho and Utah are safe Republican states but Montana is truly infested with tree huggers and the leftist ideologues. If I wanted to live in this area I would move to Idaho; specfically around Sandpoint. If a person wants to visit Montana it is just a short drive.
Me, I live in Texas. And this is truly Republican. Democrats have their conclaves in Austin and other urban areas but otherwise they can forget it.
But then you likely don't realize how much.
I have a gal pal (in the best sense of the term) who, along with her husband, live in Billings. She is trying to talk my wife and I into moving there, at least seasonally.
So. Beautiful countryside is a given. Let's talk taxes. What kind do you have, and how much are they?
High property taxes
I don't know the number for Income taxes.
I lean in the direction that circumstances warrant.
If one wishes to avoid unpleasant solutions, one must avoid the problems that require unpleasant solutions.
And so densely populated areas are blue areas.
Because the problems generated by crowding are solved by compromising freedom.
But the bigger fool I: please, by all means--invite people to your state and away from mine.
High property taxes
I don't know the number for Income taxes.
LOL.
Stuff enough people--of whatever political belief--into your state, then tell me about your taxes. LOL.
They do as well as some other plants. Several friends and co-workers have been there. I got offered a job during the winter at elv. 6800 feet... passed on that one!
