""We all believe that conservative ideas are mainstream, and that it is the left that is extreme. I think that the President probably believes this too. So, what is wrong with his words?""

youre 100% right. So many conservatives here have fallen for the left's propaganda that it is conservatives who are out of the mainstream. When people here on FR hear the words mainstream and fair minded, they automaticallly exclude themselves and others with like philosphies and they automatically think RINO. Its pathetic.

Perhaps some here could have a bit more confidence in their own views to take the position that Pres Bush was taling about a conservative.

There are very few conservatives here, there are a lotta wannabe conservatives. A Republican doesn't automatically fall into the category of conservative and the President is a perfect example of that. The fact that so many ordinary Republicans think of themselves as "conservatives" simply means they bought into the leftist propaganda that anybody to the right of Barbara Boxer is a conservative.
