Suicide bomber kills 4 in Turkey

Saturday, July 16, 2005 Posted: 1214 GMT (2014 HKT)

Bystanders helped remove the passengers from the wreckage.

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- A bomb blast, likely caused by a female suicide bomber, devastated a minibus Saturday as it headed toward a popular beach in an Aegean Sea resort town, killing four people, including at least two foreign tourists, a police official said.

The blast in Kusadasi, 72 kilometers (45 miles) southeast of the port city of Izmir, tore off the bus' roof and sides. News photos showed body parts scattered next to the bus, which was destroyed just a few meters (yards) from the coast.

A police official in Kusadasi said preliminary evidence pointed to a female suicide bomber whose body was torn apart in the blast. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the woman was a Turkish citizen.

The Anatolia news agency said there were reports that the bomb exploded in the woman's lap

I guess they'll killed off all the willing men. If the male suicide bombers are promised 77 virgins, what are the female bombers promised?

The official...said the woman was a Turkish citizen.

Sad. Now we have Turks killing each other, similar to the UK with Brits killing each other. When will people wake up and understand that this is becoming a trend in countries with lax immigration policies and large muslim populations?

Now we have Turks killing each other,

Actually, it looks as though they targeted tourists.

Three foreign tourists were among the dead and five foreign tourists were critically injured in the explosion, a doctor at Kusadasi State Hospital said. The doctor, who declined to be identified, said the five injured tourists were transferred to Izmir, a port city 45 miles northwest of Kusadasi.

The Anatolia news agency, reporting from Izmir, said the five wounded were British tourists and they included a 16-year-old boy.

The men who sent them probably giggle because they know that she becomes one of the virgins, they just don't tell her that. As far as all these suicide bombers I guess the only way to eliminate them is for the world to become a nudist colony.

If one guy posts that picture of Teddy before I have breakfast...

She gets to be one of those seventy-seven virgins.
Death through martyrdom is held up to these people as the way to enjoying all that their religion denies them in life.

I don't understand how they consider themselves martyrs. A martyr is defined as:

1. One who chooses to suffer death rather than renounce religious principles.
2. One who makes great sacrifices or suffers much in order to further a belief, cause, or principle.
3.
1. One who endures great suffering: a martyr to arthritis.
2. One who makes a great show of suffering in order to arouse sympathy.

They aren't choosing death rather than renounce religious principles, nor are they furthering their beliefs. In fact, the more suicide bombings, the more people see Islam for a very wicked and evil cult. Martyrs of the Bible did not intentionally kill themselves and innocent people around them.

Someone should tell these people they aren't martyrs, just stupid.

An afterlife in a burka made from material that can wick and breathe , perhaps an afterlife with a much less chance of being stoned for something stupid or even the reversal of their female circumcision. Wow, talk about an incentive plan.

I don't think anyone is accusing them of being particularly bright. But, you're right....these are not "martyrs."

I lived in Izmir the better part of a year. The Turkish minibuses (called Dolmus, the past participle of the verb to stuff) are a very common means of transportation, and cheap, because they do pack people in. Both Kusadasi and Izmir are convenient to the ruins of the ancient city of Ephesus, a major tourist attraction. The intent was probably to dampen tourism, just as the Islamists like to do in Egypt.

What folks are missing (or just not discussing) is the reason for the bombing and the people behind it. It is disturbing.

Turkey has been held up as a "good" Islamic country, because Jemal Attaturk abolished governmental adherence to Islmaic law and secularized the country back in the 1920's. Most Turks I've met (and I've been there several times on TDY's) are proud of this fact--that they're the only Muslim country to step into the 20th century, so to speak.

This attack speaks volumes about the Islamofacists. They are not content to allow Turks to be secular, but are hell bent on imposing Sharia law everywhere.

It further shows Islamfacist hatred toward Westerners and Christians (read: FOREIGN tourists). Their goal in Islamizing the world is to treat our innocents as fodder for their jihad in a complete lack of humanity, humility, and respect for life that one would think would be intricate parts of any major religion. So much for the religion of peace. Their version is a scourge on all the rest. This has got to come to a head before it's over. Either the Islamofacists win out, or they'll have to be utterly crushed. Other Muslims must start stepping up to the plate or they'll be crushed with their more radical brethren.

Your points are excellent. Unfortunately, if there's no way to blame Bush and the WOT, this story (and the points you raise) will receive scant media attention.

Looks like the Kurds are turning to suicide bombing.

Also from the article:
Turkish military and intelligence officials have said Kurdish rebels were in possession of hundreds of kilograms (pounds) of C-4 obtained from Iraq. Unconfirmed intelligence reports have said the Kurdish rebels have sent around 70 suicide bombers to big cities in Turkey.

If this is true, this is a disturbing development. I wonder why they're targeting tourist areas, since their "beef" seems to be not with Westerners themselves, but the Turkish government, unless they wish to attack the Turkish economy.
