And FYI, she was concerned about having an American director, because her books are VERY British and she wants top keep the movies the same as the books. Obviously, she was correct in thinking that perhaps an American ( YOU ! ), would see an English concept through American eyes and get it all bollixed up.
Yes, "wretched man" is a slur. I am well aware she didn't go with Steven Spielberg because he wanted to make Hogwarts an "international" school and the movies more American. But I don't have to read her mind too much on this one. It's obvious, and I'm versatile enough to like her books and recognize what she stuck on the first page of this one.
speaking of very british (and otherwise totally unrelated to this thread)... theres a "new" show on discovery chl called "Top Gear"
a car show... sad to say although it is VERY british, it kicks butt over the car shows on Spike....
Top Gear actually takes the cars out and --hold on to your hats--DRIVES THEM!!! Not only that, they drive them to the breaking point.
The "power block" of car shows on Spike has great cars..classic muscle cars pumped out to 500, 600, 700 horsepower...then they say "joe's gonna take this beast out!" So they have a 2.5 second clip of joe in a 700+ horsepower car doing a .00003 second burnout.
how sad. I thought us Americans were the sole owner and operators of laying rubber in front of the dairy queen...
