Lots of countries have "Presidents" -- why would you assume it's Bush?

Currently the British PM would tend to find the French or German President to be more of a wretched man' than the American Pres.

Blair is big on helping africa.
They have many presidents who are wretched men there...
You what you want. What about the rest of the book?
Is harry potter now quoting Marx and Lennin?
To: Williams
Stop, lets use our brains for more than cooling our blood. JK Rowling probably completed this book some months ago. So you assume she had advanced knowledge of a terrorist attack? I never read the books but I hear they are enjoyable This is the first time I've heard of politics being injected in them.
Take a look under the bed, shall we? No liberals there, and I doubt any are in this book.

Given Chirac's comments insulting the British, how do you know she didn't mean the President of France?

There are a lot of reasons to criticize the Harry Potter books, but I'm not sure this is one of them.
Bush and Blair are very close, so I don't see how you can reach this conclusion.
Maybe it's referring to wretched men such as Chirac or Putin.

This is not enough information to go on to suggest that J.K. Rowling is trying to brainwash kids into disliking President Bush. If the President had been more fully described, then there would be case. As he wasn't, I'd say, let it go - Rowling hasn't made it clear what, if anything, she was thinking in this instance.

Maybe it was President Putin of Russia the author is alluding to. Or President Chirac of France.
But then again - and most likely - it was about nobody in the real world at all. It's a freakin' book people. It's make believe! In all the previous 5 books in the series (and I've read them), not a single person in the "real" world was ever mentioned in them. The entire series of books exists out of any specific timespace - they are about an alternative universe in which Wizards and Witches exist outside the "Muggle" (non-magic) world. Are we now supposed to look for slams on Dwight Eisenhower in J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings?.
Lighten up!
