If the author was asked, it would maybe clear this up.
Does anyone know the author's politics?
At first glance...I would be inclined to think as you have. Secondary to...having to continually hear negative innuendo, and slight of tongue..aimed at the United States, and President Bush.
FWIW-

Did you ever think it might be France? The British hatred of France can never be surpassed by animosity for any other country.
Seriously, hating the french is damn near an institution there.

I understand Rowling on this. The books are very English in cultural background and American directors (Joss Whedon excepted) are pretty clueless about Englishness.

I like Terry Brooks -- even named my daughter Amberle after a character in one of the Shanara books. The book you claim as your last fiction book was the start of a series I really enjoyed reading.

I remember reading on a website that they employ only British for the movies. It seems like racism to me, but heck, I've gotten used to being the only group that it's popular to discriminate against.
By the way, the director of the first two movies did a great job. You could tell right away the third was different. It was much more obsessed with occultish stuff, with candles made out of bones, and just a dirtier look. The first was so much more polished and bright.

"Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince"
Is Half Blood Prince a reference to the Harry rumors?

I have not read any books on this Potter stuff but while glancing at the movie one time I saw kids riding broomsticks at a very fast pace.
I would assume it would not take long to cross the "pond" on one of those sticks. The PM could be talking about India are some other Asian/Africa country.

It will be interesting to see if the phone call ever came and if that wretched man gets a chance to prove himself otherwise.
If it is just thrown in on the first page and never mentioned again, J.K. may be suffering from Adult ADD.

Just curious, do you feel the same way about the Oz series? They are full of witches and witchcraft, magical spells and potions.

Looks a little to "thick" for my taste... I'll wait for the movie... :DTo be honest, I had no interest in either watching the movies, or reading the books. I was completely hooked on the Lord of the Rings movies when the first HP movie came out. And I was simply far to busy to read any of the HP books.
But one night I was extremely bored, and the only thing to watch on TV was the first HP movie. Well, I watched it, and I loved it. From that point on, I was hooked. I decided to read the first book, and I was amazed: As terrific as the movie was, the book was so much better! I've found that to be the case with all 3 of the movies and books so far. The books really are terrific.

The book you claim as your last fiction book was the start of a series I really enjoyed reading. Yea... guess... I should offer a correction.. I also read Black Unicorn after that.(Although I didn't read Black Unicorn like i did the other you know couple chapters then put it down)
Good books, I have never read a Harry Potter book, but if someone likes those and they have nothing else to read they could give this series a shot and see what they think.

Is there a Briton with any courage left?Quite a few, and many are fighting in Iraq and Afgahnistan, right now. In fact, a few were killed in Iraq, just this morning.

If you don't read, my friend, then you give victory to
the liberal educational philosophy that says the dumber
the nation is, the easier it is to destroy its character and
lead it in our direction.

Its summer time they should be outside playing...But only with armed guards, and under constant supervision by at least two adults...
