Most people in the U.S. and Europe are concerned about the rise of violent activities by extremists who say they are Muslims. That is just one of the findings in a new survey by Pew, a research polling group in the U.S. Another finding: people in the U.S. were most likely to name Islam as a violent religion.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, held a press conference in Washington D.C. Thursday, to release a new video PSA, or public service announcement, called "Not in the Name of Islam."
(audio on tape) Woman: "As Muslims we want to state clearly..." Man: " that those who commit acts of terror in the name of Islam are betraying the teachings of the Koran and the prophet Mohammed."
CAIR and other large Muslim organizations in the U.S. have consistently spoken out against violence against civilians, whether at home or abroad. The announcement comes at a particularly troublesome moment.
The double decker bus bombed last week was believed to have been destroyed by a young Muslim Authorities in England now believe that British Muslims may have been involved in last week's bombings that killed more than 50 in London
In Israel, a suicide bombing this week killed four. The group Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility.
And in Bagdhad Wednesday a car bomb killed 27 and injured at least 70 others. Among the dead, more than 12 children and one U.S. soldier. These atrocities were condemned by CAIR Chairman Parvez Ahmed.
The chairman said, "Any effort by terrorists to hide their criminal activities under the mask of religious piety is being categorically and unequivocally rejected by mainstream Muslims."
CAIR has also put its video message online, hoping that will help convey their message to the world.
Talk is cheap.
Talk is cheap.
This is a very telling statement. Americans aren't worried about extremists who call themselves muslims, they are worried about muslims who are blowing things and people up in the name of their religion!
"Any effort by terrorists to hide their criminal activities under the mask of religious piety is being categorically and unequivocally rejected by mainstream Muslims."
Could have fooled me, where is this again?
we need more. many, many, many, many, many more.
Re talk is cheap.
CAIR will become believeable when they start to out the radical jihadists in America posing as mullahs and every day Muslims.
CAIR will become believable when then stop attacking our president and his people as the evil on earth.
Don't hold your breath for the above to happen.
Strange that it took the VOA to hear about this. Not exactly shouted from a rooftop, eh?
"Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faiths, but to become dominant. The Koran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."
Omar Ahmad
Co-founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, aka CAIR
If you don't you aid and abet a terrorist organization.
Just a second...let me remove this ROP knife in my back....
All Muslims are not killing terrorists.....But all killing terrorists are Muslims.
: \
CAIR should save their money and drop a few dimes on the terrorists in their communities. Then donate the production money to the Minutemen. I mean, it's THEIR country that needs protecting, too.
Talk isn't necessarily so cheap in this context: it can get you labeled as an apostate from Islam, and tends to attract suicide bombers and maniacs with knives intent on beheading.
There a quickly-worded disclaimer at the end stating:
"This condemnation is void where the act of terror is committed against an Infidel, which are any person or persons supporting or alledged to be supporting the policies or activities of Israel, the United States, Great Britain or any of their citizens, corporations, organizations or allies. Allahu Akbar."
and revealing.
Re: CAIR's 'Not in the name of Islam' project (on-line petition, etc.) and various PSA's.
CAIR Board Chairman Omar Ahmad said, "People of all faiths must do whatever they can to help end the downward spiral of mutual hostility and hatred that is engulfing our world."
CAIR's on-line petition states in part, "No injustice done to Muslims can ever justify the massacre of innocent people and no act of terror will ever serve the cause of Islam."
Here's the problem, IMO. There are always qualifications -- and IMO excuses. To wit, "mutual hostility and hatred" and "injustice done to Muslims."
I swear I do not recall ever seeing Christians excusing the Christian Identity followers or any group like them.
I recall Ibrahim Hooper's comments posted on a CAIR web page when he (finally!) commented on 9/11. Basically, it read, the event was just awful, stop picking on Muslims, let us teach you about Islam. "Event" was his word to describe the 9/11 attacks. Mr. Hooper even advised Muslims to find ways to use the "event" to teach Islam to Americans.
Lies. Those who commit violence are following the example of Mohammad himself.
I can read STRAIGHT through this bullsh*t. Phooey!
The Japanese establishment/lobbyists indulge in this kind of stuff in the USA, too, thinking we are too stupid or culturally blind to cut through it, and often, YES, our leaders are just that (but not specialists who study the Japanese mind and intentions). To them, this is a prime, textbook example of what's called "senryaku teki na kikikanri to shogai katsudo"... "strategic damage control PR."
It's not out of OUTRAGE.
I can tell you that right now.
Read people's and organization's motives.
It's about COVERING THEIR OWN ASSES and nothing more, from backlash.
Repeat: And nothing more.
But they want us so much to hope in our intrinsically good natured, benevolent American/Western minds, that they really are sincere, though they themselves know they are not.It is not from the heart nor altruistic; it is 'staged', 'machiavellian', 'manipulative', 'sneaky' and 'strategic.'
I would even guess that the C.A.I.R. carefully-selected words and film were already dummied up, ready to go in the can, and they just waited to the next attack by a Muslim that would rise to the level of appearing to cause heat for them; then they just put in "London" (it could just as easy have been "Chicago" or "Tokyo" or "Amsterdam"), and got it out the door a few days after the attacks, following their strategic C.A.I.R. conference calls with attorneys and K Street/Madison Avenue PR and lobbyist whizzes they have undoubtedly retained.
None of this REALLY seems to be from the heart. All the while, joining with the ACLU, they do everything they can to defeat the War on Terrorism by taking away the tools the American authorities are starting to finally wake up and use.
How about a 24-Hour a Day C.A.I.R. staffed HOTLINE, 1-800 number, where people can phone in leads about suspicious activities in Mosques, and the FBI can review the tapes of the calls every day at the end of the day??
Where is the offer to put this in Arabic and air it all throughout the middle east on al-Jaz, or in Urdu in Pakistan?
Where is there grassroots effort to get general fatwas issued from every major or minor Islamic branch or school automatically declaring any jihadist worldwide who murders even one person, as a damned soul to Hell, irretrievably disfellowshiped from Mohammad, Allah and Islam?
The answer lies in the fact that they speak out of both sides of their mouths; their words betray one thing, their hearts say another. Phonies.
Here's the CAIR response, FYI.
