Valerie wasn't clandestine at the time of Rove's conversation with Cooper, or for more than five years before it, and Wilson knew it.
So what does it matter what the context of the question was? I guess you think an admission of the obvious is important to some hear.
Just stop and think about it for one second - Wolf was asking him about whether it was 'inappropriate' to do a photo shoot for VF with his wife who was "a clandestine agent," and he replied that she wasn't a clandestine agent on the day - on the day, not before the day - that Novak published his column.
Wolf was NOT asking her if she was a clandestine agent at or before the time of the Novak column. He was asking a question about her being 'clandestine' when they did the photo shoot and whether that was appropriate.
When Wolf DID ask whether she was clandestine before Novak published, he wouldn't comment.
I'm just sayin'...
The CIA did a referral for some reason. And Fitzgerald has taken two years with it for some reason. It would be odd if all that could've been avoided with a curt conclusion that she didn't fall within the statute.
