a "COPPERHEAD" is a PRO-dixie partisan. i.e. a northern-born, who cleaves to the southron TRUE CAUSE of FREEDOM for dixie.

a COPPERHEAD is the EXACT opposite of a DAMNyankee bigot/HATER.

the northern press started calling "dixie partisans" that nickname "during the late unpleasantness" in 1861 & it "stuck".

COPPERHEADS were/ARE LOVED & CHERISHED all over dixie. (fwiw, come dixie LIBERTY, copperheads will get southern citizenship immediately upon application.)
