Former police sergeant to plead guilty

By Karen Zapf TRIBUNE-REVIEW Friday, July 8, 2005

A former Plum police sergeant is expected to plead guilty today to reduced federal charges in connection with the theft of a handgun from the department's evidence room.

-------------------------------------------------

It was a high end .45 that the cops siezed for no reason. The owner forced them to return it and when he went to pick it up --- guess what? It was "missing".

I'll trump that. Here in Minnesota, the assistant director of the state crime lab got sentenced to a year in the county workhouse for stealing 2 pounds of cocaine from the evidence locker to support his personal habit.

With good behavior, he could be out in three months.

The Sheriff in San Bernardino County, CA, stole over 500 guns from the evidence lockers, ignored court orders to return them and when he got caught, a $10,000 fine was all he got.
