One of these days I'll probably get me a good 45. The 9 (Browing) is fine, but as you have alluded to, a good 45 is tough to beat. Familiar at all with Kimber's hardware?

A step up from the 9 is the 40. That is popular with competitive combat shooters as it is a little cheaper to reload than the 45, has somewhat less kick and has sufficient power to knock down the pins.
