Michael Talbot was identified at the Valley View Landfill in Trimble County Thursday shortly before 6 p.m., WLKY NewsChannel 32's Stephanie Segretto reported. The confirmation took place hours after Avery Roland was found amid the waste. Recent rain and humidity made searching through the landfill difficult for officers, Kentucky State Trooper Greg Larimore said.
Talbot and Roland escaped from the Kentucky State Reformatory Wednesday. A garbage truck made a pickup at KSR that day, and later made a drop-off in Trimble County. Investigators think the pair somehow got into the garbage truck as they tried to escape.
"We asked (landfill management) to pay special attention to anything suspicious that might get dumped," Larimore said. "When they were in there dumping garbage, an employee noticed the body."
But the truck compacted several times between the pickup and the dropoff, meaning the escapees likely were crushed to death.
Roland, 26, of Fayette County, was serving a four-year sentence for unlawful imprisonment and sex abuse, involving an attack on a female student at the University of Kentucky.
Talbot, 24, of Jefferson County, was serving a 10-year sentence for wanton endangerment, theft by unlawful taking and fleeing and evading police.

Quite the narrow escape.
