Presidential confidant Karl Rove testified to a grand jury that he learned the identity of a CIA operative originally from journalists, then informally discussed the information with a Time magazine reporter days before the story broke, according to a person briefed on the testimony.

Then "informally discussed it" with someone else?

Not good.

If the info came from a journalist, a backgrounder is NOT breaking the law. Rove spoke to Cooper as a confidential source. He did nothing wrong. Sharing information you learned from a public source is not a crime. Rove did NOT reveal classified information or anything about Valerie Plame's identity.
