Don't have the timeline for this, but there WERE some documents that purported to show that Saddam either sought, or bought, yellowcake from Niger, and it turns out the docs were fake. Some said forgeries, and bad forgeries at that. This reference could be to those fake docs, who knows? You can't tell from the story. However, other intel sources have established that Iraq did indeed make an effort to acquire more yellowcake from Niger. I believe it was established that they already had a supply.

I don't think that British Intelligence ever backed off of their position that this was indeed the case.

At the time of our invasion of Iraq, I remember well a story recounting how some local Iraqi's were getting poisoned because they were using the (plastic?) 55 gallon drums which had previously held yellowcake uranium as their potable water storage containers. The story predictably blamed the US administrators for not providing proper water storage. I remember remarking at the time that this is proof positive that Iraq had a nuke program. Of course, the story was buried under the continued success of the US invasion and occupation. Does anyone else recall this story?
