Man sentenced for running over his partner

A Stanislaus County man who ran over his partner with his pickup truck two years ago was sentenced today to four years in state prison.
Ronald Paul, 38, of Oakdale, pleaded no contest on May 10 to vehicular manslaughter for the July 23, 2003, death of Craig Robertson, 37, also of Oakdale, who had been his partner for nine years.

I find it very annoying that the word "partner" has been co-opted to mean 'gay lover'.
When I first saw the headline, I though it was about 2 cops.
Weren't Friday and Gannon 'partners' on Dragnet?

I don't know. It's not the first time I've seen a murder sentence shorter than your average drug sentence. It's crazy, man. Heck, tax evaders get more than four years.
