As part of wider plans to generate a backlash, rightwing groups such as the Nationalist Alliance and the National Front are said to be planning marches. Extremists hope to hold a march along Victoria Embankment in London tomorrow.

In Germany after WW I, the Communists were raising hell trying to create a similar revolution to the one in Russia. The Spartacists staged an attempted revolution in 1919, and were bloodily put down by the Army and military vets. The middle class was getting scared, and became willing to support anybody who would lead his own group of rowdies to bust heads with the Reds.

And before anybody starts in, I am not in favor of the extreme right getting into a bloodbath with the Muslims. I'm just saying that the British government now has little choice: either do something effective, or step aside
