Born in Brooklyn, Walter Pincus worked as a copyboy at the New York Times after graduating from Yale University. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1955 and served in the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corps in Washington from 1955-1957. After his discharge, he worked on the copy desk of The Wall Street Journal's Washington edition. He left in 1959 to become Washington correspondent for three North Carolina newspapers. In 1963, he moved to the Washington Star before joining The Washington Post, where he worked from 1966 to 1969. From 1972 to 1975, he was executive editor of The New Republic. He covered the Watergate Senate hearings, the House impeachment hearings and the Watergate trial, writing articles for the magazine and op-ed pieces for The Washington Post. In 1975, he returned to The Washington Post to write for the national staff of the newspaper.

He co-produced with CBS News a two-hour documentary in 1992, WATERGATE: THE SECRET STORY, with Mike Wallace as correspondent that was broadcast on CBS June 17, 1992 and accompanied by articles in The Washington Post and Newsweek. In 1993, he directed a combined research effort among The Washington Post, Newsweek and CBS News on the 30th anniversary of the John F. Kennedy assassination. That resulted in a November 1993 series in The Washington Post, a major package of articles in Newsweek, and another co-production with CBS News, of a two-hour documentary, THE KENNEDY ASSASSINATION, with Dan Rather broadcast Nov. 19, 1993.

In 1965 he married the former Ann Witsell Terry of Little Rock, Arkansas. He has three sons and a daughter: Andrew of Washington, D.C.; Ward of Dubai; Adam of Chicago, Ill.; and Battle of Chicago, Ill. And two grandchildren, Josh and Kate, of Washington, D.C.

...OK, there really is a Walter Pincus.....now how about the rest of the story,,,,, why should we think Pincus knew anything?
