Most people don't even care about this story so once again the Dems are wasting their time. But it's not like they have anything more productive to do anyway.
During the Clinton impeachment, less than 20% of the populace opposed Clinton's impeachment and removal - though only about 30% actively supported it - the rest thought he deserved it, but weren't pushing it. The media managed to convince the Senators that 70% opposed the impeachment, and scared them into limiting the hearing to a farce.
It is obvious that a bunch of Repubs are getting skittish about sticking their necks out, regardless of the merits - which falsely implies there is something serious to the public.
The Power of the Press...Even if they can't directly pull the wool over the eyes of the people, they can still scare congresscritters.
