Paul M. Williams author of The Al-Queda Connection which is due to be released soon, provides a compilation of data based on; FBI, CIA, Vice President Cheney, Homeland Security, Attorney General Ashcroft and news sources. Makes a strong case that there are 20 suitcase nukes in the USA which have been smuggled in through the border with Mexico.
"That's still ridiculous. There's no way Al Qaeda has more than a few dozen actual operatives in the US, plus a couple hundred or so sympathizers capable of logistical support (i.e. fundraising)."
You say this while our borders are known to be wide open? I hope you are correct, but until the borders are closed, I will remain very nervous.
"I might tend to worry a bit about it of someone could answer this question for me: What are they waiting for?"
For Paul Williams to finish his book tour?
BTW, his upcoming book is the SECOND book he's written on this topic in 15 months.
"The writer who repeats himself compounds plagirism with bad taste..."
They are all in a locker in the Greyhound station in Moline, Illinois.
9/11 proves al Qaeda is patient. They didn't just grab a plane, they waited until they had a plan to grab four. They wouldn't pop off a nuke in one city if they could hit multiple cities at the same time by waiting a while longer.
That said, the maintenance issues make me dubious of the report. I've never seen any sign that AQ has anywhere near that level of technical expertise -- it sounds like they would need almost as much skill to maintain a bomb as to build one of their own.
My wife and I both gave each other a strange look and wondered out loud if something major is in the works when we found out last week that her father's neurosurgeon, who has practiced in the local V.A. hospital for years, recently packed up and left with his family returning to his native Saudi Arabia giving the reason as his mother's failing health as the cause for his leaving.
Given how little value that culture places on wives and women in general, it makes one wonder how many other highly trained and professional level Arab muslims have left the country in the past couple of months. We're trying not to screw our tinfoil hats on too tight, but it just struck us as very curious.
Tritium. It decays into deturium relatively quickly.
Hey, how quick do you think Joe Farah over at WorldNutDaily can file a suit for infringement upon HIS exclusive conspiracy theory?
i DON'T think that the notion of 5,000 Jihadi sleeper cells is crazy at all.
The FBI or Homeland Security estimated a conservative estimate of 3,000 MAINLAND CHINESE SPY CELLS and speculated that there were many more they didn't have a clue about.
The Jihadi's are a lot more rabid and energetic about such things than the Chinese--who are plenty energetic toward stealing our secrets.
Wake up and smell the looming . . . destruction.
Not 5000 sleeper cells, but 5000 individuals in sleeper cells.
I find that number very realistic.
I don't think al-Qaeda has 5,000 operatives worldwide--from what I've read, they subscribe to the notion that three can keep a secret if two of them are dead, and they tend to recruit people they've personally known for years/decades.
The chance of discovery would increase the longer the device is kept around. If there are multiple devices that chance of discovery would be that much greater. Discovery of even one would mark a fundamental change in our society about as significant as discovering a war fleet of space aliens two days out from earth.
Certainly similar rumors have been reported in the past.
Not, to my knowledge, with such a list of high level sources.
But, since you know more than all those sources and the author, of course, you are right. I'm sure Dick Cheney would love to see your resume.
So why havent the terrorist used the nukes if they have them?
Why did they wait until 9/11 to fly jetliners into buildings if they knew how to fly them years earlier.
and what was so significant about the date Sept 11, 2005?? Nothing.
and what is so signifcant about tomororow, or the next day, or the next day, etc.. ?? Nothing.
Or maybe the nukes are in the repair shop.
"Tritium. It decays into deturium relatively quickly."
Worse, it decays into helium--and helium captures neutrons very efficiently, so that only a little helium can cause the weapon to not generate a significant yield.
Wow...the dreamworld you must live in.
"They are all in a locker in the Greyhound station in Moline, Illinois."
No, they were in Achmed's apartment. Unfortunately, he didn't pay his rent, so he got evicted, and he now lives in a van...down by the river. :)
Even if you don't count actual al Qaida members/sleepers, there have been studies that show between 10-15% of Muslims are extremists. Assuming the low end of that figure is correct, we have around 700,000 possible extremists living in this country.
Those who doubt that al Qaida placed sleepers in the country prior to 9/11 must be crazy.. they knew full well what our response would be to that morning.
They might have. And when they did, they probably discovered that the "suitcase nuke" the Russian mafia sold them was nothing other than a 1970's era Soviet fax machine.
I would say an 8 year gap between attacks on the WTC shows they can restrain themselves. And wait thing out till the timing is to their best advantage.
The more people you have in an organization, the more likely someone's going to blab.
