The Overlooked Attack (Anthrax- 'a grave, ongoing and unsolved threat')
The Washington Post ^ | July 12, 2005 | Washington Post Editorial

'Missing from his (The Presidents Quantico) address, however, was any reference to the strikes on U.S. soil that occurred in the weeks after Sept. 11, 2001, from a biological agent called anthrax

-- a grave, ongoing and unsolved threat..

A small amount of powder in five letters managed to kill five people in Washington, Florida and New York, and sickened...

The U.S. postal system was brought to its knees in several cities...

Congressional offices were evacuated. The cost of responding to the attacks on the U.S. Postal Service alone reached an estimated $1 billion, and that's not counting the additional costs of protecting its employees, customers and the mail system from future exposure to biohazardous material... '

U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases Confirms Positive Anthrax Tests: Two labs confirmed Pentagon anthrax By Dee Ann Divis Senior Science & Technology Editor [UPI] Published 3/21/2005 12:18 PM

WASHINGTON, March 21 (UPI) -- Anthrax has been confirmed in samples collected from the two Pentagon mail facilities that were at first closed last week and then declared free of the pathogen, United Press International has learned.'

'The head of the company that was accused of contaminating the samples sent from those facilities -- a detached building on the Pentagon grounds in Arlington, Va., and the other in Falls Church, Va. -- said the presence of anthrax was detected independently by two government laboratories.'

"It is a fact that we had a presumptive positive test come up," he said. "That presumptive positive test was confirmed by us and by at least two other labs as being a true positive."

Carlee Vander Linden, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases in Frederick, Md., which tested the samples after CBI, confirmed that the follow-up tests on the first sample were positive and that two labs had done such tests."

'Looks like the perfect crime was perpetrated.'

'A perfect crime is a crime so well-committed that no evidence is left, and no solution by the police is possible.

The concept of the "perfect crime" requires a serious crime that is fully investigated by the police, the courts, investigative journalists and even investigators hired by the wronged party.

Some crimes such as the Tylenol scare of 1982 and the Diane Suzuki case of 1985 are referred to as perfect, but a possibility always remains that a culprit will ultimately be identified.

The case of Leopold and Loeb is an American case that was almost a perfect crime, but a small detail botched it, and both perpetrators landed in prison.'

IMHO a perfect crime is one that the perpetrator is not convicted or killed for.

For what it's worth, the Post editorial was a cheap shot.

The administration has spent billions on biodefense-much to the rage of other research scientists, who wanted THEIR important projects - like research on psoriasis in parakeets- funded.

- Among the Living -

Disease! Disease! Spreading the disease
With some help from Captain Trips,
he'll bring the world down to his knees
Power, yes Power! He'll show them all his power
It pulses through his ice cold blood,
a whole world to devour!

He's seeing, he's calling, his legacy he's spawning
He's coming, corrupting, among the living!

Murder! Murder! Commit cold blooded murder!
Like Nazis during World War Two, they only follow orders
Hatred! Hatred! A crucifix is your bed
Once he turns his eye on you, you'll be better off dead!

I'm the walkin' dude, I can see all the world!
Twist your minds with fear, I'm the man with the power
Among the living, follow me or die!

Man, fights Man! Divided they can't stand!
United, they can battle back, and make him force his hand!
Fear, yes fear! His end is growing near
He didn't count on Man's good faith, and their will to persevere

Follow me or die!

FIRE! HOT FIRE!! Purge the world with fire!!
Damnation is the price he'll pay, for an evil man's desire!
Good, versus evil! The stand to vanquish evil!
Man can only live one way, that place right in the middle

Follow me or die!

Among among among
Among among among
Among among among
Among among among

When you bring up Cap'n Trips, it seems only right to pingue Mother Abigail, no?

Mother Abigail
Since Oct 9, 2001

9 October 2001.
An amusing FR birthday coincidence. Some one selected on that date the name << Mother Abigail >>. From The Stand by Stephen King. In which an engineered vierus nick-named Cap'n Trips escapes from a US government bio-warfare lab.

9 October 2001.
The date of the anthrax mailings to the 2 senators. Only in hind-sight known...

Amusingly coincidental.

It's an interesting bit of synchronicity.

IIRC, the disease in The Stand was a contagious respiratory virus, more like the flu or SARS than like anthrax.

The Walkin' Man

"It's Time To Make Yo Stand"

-Mother Abigail Freemantle.

- The Postman-

It is sundown.

Half expectedly,

He comes up the walk

And knocks upon the door.

I greet him.

He stands there weeping.

Handing me a letter.

He tells me it contains

Terrible personal news.

He falls to his knees,

'Forgive me! Forgive me',

He pleads unconvincingly.

Knowing what he brings

Still I let him in.

He wipes his eyes

While I stand unconvinced.

Cautiously, I smile inside.

The collar of a secreted plaid shirt

Protrudes around his neck.

His dark untruth

Is like a Piss stain on my brain.

Looking helpless, nervous, small,

He curls up like a ball

And feigns at sleeping,

While I compare the batch of

Fragrance powdered letters

With no return address

Still unopened,

Delivered to myself, along the same vein.

I think softly out loud:

You shall live by inflicting pain.

This odorless letter,

Hand delivered,

Containing terrible personal news,

Is not quite the same.

Looking his way, I muse,

Recalling the Town Cryer:

You are a dead man walkin'

Among the living -

You shall forever go truly unrepentant

Eternally unforgiven.

Damnation is the price you'll pay

For an evil man's desire.

<< IIRC, the disease in The Stand was a contagious respiratory virus, more like the flu or SARS than like anthrax. >>

SARS...

Stranger and stranger...

Mother Abigail's determined series of posts single-handedly brought FR's attention to SARS, when the outbreak first started to be recognised in 2003. Worries and tin-foil rumours in 2003 circled around the potzibility that SARS was a Chinese bio-warfare lab escapee, or was connected with bio-terror in some fashionality, altho now-a-days SARS is beleived widely to have originated naturally.

The name Mother Abigail was pointedly perfect because of its genesis in The Stand, a doomsday tale of a flulike epidemic that nearly exterminates humanity after escaping from a US bio-warfare lab.

Here is the puzzler...

Whosoever was the SARS poster chose the perfect alias << Mother Abigail >> on 9 October 2001, more than a year before the first SARS case. Foresightedly coincidental.

That's now 2, count 'em 2, coincidences from a single FR birthday.

For what it's worth, the Post editorial was a cheap shot.

A disgusting, big time cheap shot. The administration takes the threat of bioterrorism extremely seriously. Heck, the government is terrified of it.

If the anthrax attack is the "overlooked attack", the media are primarily the ones to blame for that, because they were so desperate to plant the "a white, Christian, conservative guy did it" meme in the general public, they conspired to finger the guy they thought was the perp, and now they have egg all over their faces, and who wants to remind the public of that?
