I think some of this being stirred up on the part of Plame/Wislon is to immunize themselves against any sanctions. Action taken against them would appear to be political retribution, even if they deserved it.

I think the Dems were reaching too far on this one and it got out of hand. They were having orgasms at the thought of taking down Rove and President Bush and overcommited themselves about nothing. They are now in the damage control mode by repeating the lies often enough, hoping people will think they're true. Why they didn't back off and cut their losses is beyond me, other than they have nothing else.
