"The Pons and Fleischmann's experiment used platinum electrodes" I'll be picky and point out that only the "non-fusion control" experiments used platinum electrodes. The "fusion" experiments used palladium, because palladium tends to soak up huge amounts of hydrogen (or deuterium).
