Just like everybody else around him he was automatically conscripted but chose to do nothing before getting out.
But getting back to your actual statement. ...sigh... Where is your proof that he was a Nazi collaborator. Now remember words have meanings. Just barking out again that he was in an area where people were automatically conscripted does nothing to prove your label of a collaborator.
Oh and one more thing, while completely disregarding that this wasn't part of your question but entirely a red hearing (all the fashion I've found) you refer to the Pope as "our Pope". What do you mean by that? Are you Catholic or just play one on TV and FR threads allowing you to bash the Pope?
