Regardless of whatever solution is finally worked out for the illegal immigrant labor problem, the borders of the United States must be far better secured than they are now. Post 9/11, border control is a national security issue, not an immigration issue.
As statements by the present and former Foreign Ministers of Mexico demonstrate, Mexico is a completely unreliable partner in this effort. It is unwilling (due to corruption) and unable (due to corruption) to control it's side of the border.
Unfortunately, the illegal inflow is also being aided by politicians and business men and women in the United States that place their own political and/or financial interests before the public good.
