Looks to me like it's going to plow into the Yucatan and then stagger into Mexico where it will break up over the mountains. Hopefully, there will be a big plume to the north that will dump rain on Texas.
That's a good possibility that it just plows into Mexico, but thing is when it's in the Western GOM you're looking at a 7 day forecast; any sort of trough or weakness in the high over the US that occurs then, is a feature over Siberia now.
