No, you posted to the right person - I made my own 'hasty' mistake in an earlier reply and was more confrontational than I had meant to be.

Would India accept a military and political alliance dedicated to the dissolution of West Pakistan?

They offered a defacto one to America on Sept 12 2001 offering complete use of seaports, airbases, and launching grounds for a joint campaign to eradicate one huge aspect of the jihadi threat (the State of Pakistan) but weren't taken seriously.

I believe now that the alliance is slowly forming, what with the CIA's assessment that Pak will disintegrate within 10 years.

The question is, and more urgent now with the London Bombers, is can we afford to wait that long.

I think you missed his point. My interpretation of his post was that many of our leaders and Reps are an incompetent bunch of fools who not only don't understand the scope of this problem but are afraid to act. I did not read in his post that he proposed we run around bombing the crap out of everyone. YOU get real, and THINK before YOU post.

So, what exactly is it YOU think we should be doing? Apparently the successful fighitng in Iraq and Afghanistan, the diplomatic efforts in Syria and Libya, and whatever shadow operations might be going on in Pakistan and elsewhere are too timid or ineffectual, so what is it you think we should be doing?

"The CIA boss was delivering a clear message to the "weak link" — Pakistan and its military ruler, Gen. Pervez Musharraf."

You were right.

The patience game would be OK if we were dealing with trade or other ongoing political disagreements, we are not. We are dealing with a 'ticking' clock, timed to go bang any day. A nuclear device detonated anywhere in the world would spread economic chaos everywhere that matters and the resultant panic (there may be more of 'em!) would put the lid on any kind of recovery. What would I do? I would suggest that the West formally declare war on Islamic terrorists and place a 'lockdown' on all international movement (to and from participating western countries) of all Moslems, except selected Goverment leaders. Insane you say? No I say, realistic, we ARE at war. In addition, I would of course lock down our own borders, with the military if necessary, and effectively patrol our coasts. Since we are at war we would have the authority to enter any location within the US and arrest any group or individual who is actively preaching hate/dissent or promoting violence against the USA.

In the meantime, I would aggressively continue our war in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is essential that the west unite in this war and actively declare it's unity with very strong actions. There is no dialog with these animals, we must destroy them. If we wait for the 'detonation' it will be too late.

Good to see your side of the issue here. Thanks.

Whether I agree with you or not on this, what you say are things I and others should consider.

As Bush said, most of this war will be fought in the shadows and may never be known. God only knows what sacrifices have already been made by Americans that will never see the light of day.

Exactly right -

I'm convinced that our people know where Bin Laden, his 2 sons and Al Zawahiri are, but just can't make the moves necessary now, to seize these people, because the geopolitics are just too dicey at the moment. Have you all noticed that President George W. Bush is a very patient man..........slow to anger, taking his time, unruffled, unbloodied and unbowed? I can't imagine that by the time he leaves office, he will not have captured Bin Laden & Associates!

Agree with you 100% about our CIC - He is a unique leader who the United States is blessed to have at this crucial time. - However, as for us knowing "exactly" where UBL & Al Zawahiri are - Not a chance - The minute we know their exact whereabouts an Op of some sort will be put in motion to take them out -

Now do we know where they are within a "region" - Yes, I think we do (almost certain we do) - However that is completely different from being assured that we can "get them" - (we know Zarqawi is in Iraq....yet he remains free with over 125,000 U.S. soldiers in that Country). I continue to trust and have faith in this president. He is a very VERY special man.
