It may not be that complex. Wifey only suggested that he go to provide "information" in case needed by the Vice Pres. office, not at their direction. Being dems dedicated to defeating Bush, this was just opportunistic political expediency on their part. When exposed for what he was, Wilson, good lib that he is, hid behind his wife's coat tails. Good bureaucrat that she was, she then hid behind the CIA. No written orders for mission, no written report of findings or investigation, just come back and start undermining the Pres. and the British Gov't. Is this analysis plausible?

That seems to be what Ann is suggesting. But if Plame sent Wilson to Africa without permission or approval of her bosses, why on earth hasn't she been punished? She's nothing but a bloody clerk.
