The Morning Call News Minute for Wednesday, July 13, 2005 (MP3): Nearly two-thirds of Pennsylvania voters do not want President Bush to nominate a Supreme Court justice who would overturn Roe versus Wade. A new Quinnipiac University poll shows 64 percent of the about 1,600 people asked want a judge who would keep the historic decision, while 27 percent favor a Supreme Court nominee who would overturn the ruling that legalized abortion.
Sen. Arlen Specter got his highest approval rating from those same voters participating in the Quinnipiac University poll. Sixty percent approve of Specters job preformance while 30 percent do not. The longtime Republican Specter is battling cancer while serving as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

It would depend, also, on where these voters lived as well as their party affiliation. If the majority of respondents were drawn from the Philadelphia and Pittsburg areas, then of course it would be skewed. Philly went for John Kerry 80% over President Bush. Also, Quinnipiac polls are not the most reliable.
Many people think Roe only legalized abortion for hard cases. When Roe is explained to people, support for it collapses.
I always find it funny that abortion supporters claim that the vast majority of people want abortion to be legal, but are horrified at the idea of those same people being allowed to vote on the issue. Instead, they want five unelected judges to take the issue away from the voters and simply impose the pro-abortion stance on the country. If such a huge majority favors abortion, what's the problem with overturning Roe?
I'm absolutely confident that most voters oppose gay "marriage", and for that very reason I prefer to leave the issue to the voters. I certainly don't want it to be decided by judges. In contrast, the pro-aborts claim to have the support of the people, yet they fight tooth and nail to disenfranchise the voters on the issue.
The pro-aborts are lying when they claim to have majority support.
The Problem is the people in Philly Suburbs are super pro-abortion. People in the rest of the State aren't too keen on it.
Even four of the seven Democrat U.S. Congress critters in this state are pro-life, so I have to think this poll was either very selective about who they polled or it is simply ginned up.
This from the paper that featured a color foto on their webpage of a "transgendered" doc -- the honorary "queen" of a parade -- waving from a convertible.
My take on its circulation: Not much and dropping.
What a surprise they'd trumpet a bogus, pro-death poll.
It's a Quinnipiac poll. Nuff said.
Neither I nor anyone I know was polled. 1600 people polled, 800 from Philadelphia and 800 from Pittsburgh. You can tell alot were polled from Philly because Specter's numbers were so good.
The general public doesn't understand Roe v. Wade. The average person believes that if Roe were overturned, abortion would be illegal. Of course, this is untrue. The issue would simply be returned to the states.
I'd be interested in the results of a poll that asked, "Should the people of each state be allowed to determine their own abortion policies or should abortion law be formulated only by unelected federal judges?"
Specter is a brainless idiot!
