BADGER BURGLAR COLLARED
A badger broke into a house and woke up the neighbours by smashing a window during its bungled escape.
A police spokeswoman said: "It is believed the badger entered the house via a cat flap and made its way up the stairs to a bedroom.
"Once there it tried to jump through the window, causing the window to smash, and injuring itself."
The 78-year-old woman who lived in the house, in Swindon, Wiltshire, was alerted to the break-in by a neighbour who was disturbed by the sound of smashing glass at about 1.30am.
The neighbour told police he "had seen a head, possibly an animal, look out of the window" of the property.
The woman in the house was "too frightened" to enter the room where the beast was suspected to be.
Police found a badger, "injured and dazed", in a corner of a first floor bedroom.
It was taken for treatment to Swindon District Animal Haven.

Badgers are really mean. Mr. HR was walking through a cow pasture and came upon a badger that had been bitten/chewed in half once. He walked backwards all the way to his truck, because whatever was meaner than that badger was something he didn't want to turn his back on. Probably a mountain lion would be our guess.

All you ever wanted to know about badgers http://www.badgers.org.uk/badgerpages/eurasian-badger-64.html
"A male badger is called a boar and the female is called a sow. Young badgers are cubs. An old English name for the badger is Brock. As the badger is widely distributed across Europe and Asia, it has many other names in different languages. In France it is known as le blaireau. The German name for the badger is der dachs, and the Dutch name is similar - de das. Further afield, in Japan the badger is widely known as anaguma, and in Korea the badger is named ohsoree."
So the word Dachshund means "badger dog". I bet you didn't know that...

I once got in trouble with the moderator for publishing the lyrics to that song. Unless you were registered under a different name in the "old" days, you missed the days on FR when if you didn't close your tags, and you'd coded 72-point, red font, the rest of the thread, links, usernames, everything, was in 72-point, red font. Usually somebody would eventually close the tag for you, but they'd yell at you first. Loudly.
