A few Sufists are a very small minority among muslims. They are considered apostates by the vast majority. Complete apostates, those that have left the cult completely are a larger minority and have better luck drawing people away from the religion, although they are are great risk doing that as well.
Even between the two, they have little hope of reforming Islam. It's just too full of violence to be reformed. If you took all the bad stuff out of the koran, all you would have is a front and back cover.

But clearly being merely "disgusted" about the behavior of their coreligionists is inadequate. They must translate that "disgust" into active condemnations and assistance whenever possible to the authorities about suspected luanitcs in their midst.

From the Muslim Council of Britain:

MCB statement on police disclosure(12th July, 9 pm)

We have received today's terrible news from the police with anguish, shock and horror. It appears our youth have been involved in last week's horrific bombings against innocent people.

While the police investigation continues we reiterate our absolute commitment and resolve to helping the police bring to justice all involved in this crime of mass murder. Nothing in Islam can ever justify the evil actions of the bombers. We are determined to work together with all concerned to prevent such an atrocity ever happening again.

We now look to our shared values and common humanity to face the traumas of today and the challenge ahead.

Vigil, Thursday 14th July

Muslim and Christian leaders are urging differing faith communities in towns and cities across the UK to gather together publicly to observe the two minutes' silence at noon on Thursday 14 July, one week on from the terrorist atrocities. Faith leaders in London will observe together the vigil, to symbolize that all faiths condemn this kind of attack. Local leaders of mosques, churches, temples and gurdwaras are being called on to arrange similar vigils in their own neighbourhoods and those in London to also support the vigil to be held at 6pm on Thursday 14 July in Trafalgar Square.

Faith community leaders have condemned the attacks in the strongest possible terms. In a statement jointly issued on the day of the bombing, Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI) and The Muslim Council of Britain expressed deepest sympathy to those who had suffered and their families...

In addition - For Your Information here is the official statement:

British Muslims Utterly Condemn Acts of Terror

The Muslim Council of Britain utterly condemns today's indiscriminate acts of terror in London. These evil deeds make victims of us all. It is our humanity that must bring us shoulder to shoulder to condemn, to oppose and to overcome those who would spread fear, hatred and death.

Our sympathies and our prayers are with the victims, their families and friends. We extend our support and gratitude to the emergency services, the police and all the frontline services charged with our collective security.

"The evil people who planned and carried out these series of explosions in London this morning want to demoralize us as a nation and divide us as a people. All of us must unite in helping the police to capture these murderers. Yesterday we celebrated as Londoners, euphoric that our great city had secured the Olympic Games. Today we watch aghast as we witness a series of brutal attacks upon our capital city. We were together in our celebration, we must remain together in our time of crisis," said Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary General of the MCB.

"We must and will be united in common determination that terror cannot succeed. It is now the duty of all us Britons to be vigilant and actively support efforts to bring those responsible to justice," he added.

My first suggestion to the authorities is to go back and check the tapes of the 1st anniversary of 911, when there was a celebration by Islamic clerics in Trafalgar Sq.
