I had a friend who was not the most wealthy person and they wanted to have a big wedding. They didn't pull anything like telling people not to bring dates. They had gumbo, crawfish, red beans and rice, chicory coffee, ice cream and cold beer. It was probably one of the best weddings I have ever been to. Awesome.
All of it was homemade (except the beer and ice cream)
It was real and real fun!
And NOBODY was denied a date!!
It may not have been stuffy enough for some here but . . . . .
So true. Some of the best weddings I've ever been to have been in VFW type halls with serve yourself keg beer, and make your own hot roast beef or meatball hoagies right from Crock pots. And really, throw in a little music and potato salad and what more do you need for a great party?
But then, we don't check with Miss Manners before we throw a party in our family. We might improperly be including people who have no business celebrating with us.
I think that sounds like a great wedding and reception! That is what I would like to have if I ever get married again.
