Paris city hall will not honour Scientologist Cruise
Tue Jul 12, 7:42 AM ET
The Paris city hall has pledged not to make US actor Tom Cruise an honorary citizen because of his membership of the Church of Scientology.
In a debate late Monday, the Socialist-controlled municipal assembly approved a resolution "never to welcome the actor Tom Cruise, spokesman for Scientology and self-declared militant for this organisation."
Last month on a promotional tour for his film "War of the Worlds," the 43-year-old star chose the Eiffel Tower to propose to girlfriend Katie Holmes. He was also made an honorary citizen of the southern French city of Marseille.
Like many other European governments, the French authorities view Scientology -- founded in the United States in 1954 by science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard -- as a dangerous cult.
Cruise was described as a "sect-symbol" by a Socialist deputy.
Now I know that you have absolutely no idea of what you are talking about! There may be some psychiatrists who are not the best at their professions, and some who over prescribe medications. That can be found in any profession, not just medicine. A whole lot goes into a diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder. That is the reason family practitioners should refer patients to qualified psychiatrists for treatment if a short term prescription of an antidepressant does not return the person to his/her normal situation and feelings.
You have an agenda here and are saying very hurtful and ignorant things to set it up! There are many children who could not function in a regular classroom without medication for ADHD. Of course there are cases of misuse. There is misuse with anything if you look for it.
Do some real research before you try to use Bad Parenting Disease as the cause of these children's problems.
Thank you.
I am happy that you have found relief from your situational depression. Situational depression is a far cry from Major Depressive Disorder.
It is wonderful that you are well and do not have to take medication to function in society. However, not everyone is so fortunate. Do you think that those of us who take medication have not gotten out with friends, interacted with family, and found a purpose for our lives? Rubbish. As I have said before, do some real research.
Sorry, that was meant for the person with whom you were arguing. I agree with you.
ya think?
Paxil $15/month. Psychiarty $100/hour. Scientology $200+/hour.
Paxil works. Talk therapy, both Scn and psy is slow and uncertain.
Do the math.
Lol thank you for soothing my ruffled feathers.
LOL! You are welcome. Now, I need mine soothed. He has had me furious for two nights now and has not answered anything I have said to my face (so to speak)!
He had me rolling my eyes with his first line in post 58.
Yep. Also, I think he doest protest too much. Sounds to me like he is a member of the Scientology cult!
Do they control what they read or participate in nully?
They were starting to when I left. It's one of the many reasons I did.
There was even a Policy Letter banning playing Dungeons and Dragons!
I don't believe I'd like my activities or thoughts controlled by someone else. Thanks for the response. :)
Yeah, but this could be one of their higher level people who doesn't need to be controlled.
Where is the ZOT when you need it.
But but but they are only doing it for your own good....
I think I'd rather hear "talking points". Then we know the "tricks" and outright obsfucations.
I guess you are right on that one. Better the enemy we know, etc.
I shouldn't have answered him at all but when someone says something like that about my child (even if they don't know it lol) It just gets me riled up.
