I would be very proud of my son, were he to enlist in any branch of the service, but I cannot suggest it as a mother. I would not be able to live with myself if the consequences turned out poorly. I think that is something that someone has to decide on his own, without any pressure from parents.
Your son and his friends will live for the rest of their days, thinking "what if....". And no doubt you wept for joy when hearing this news. Fate stepped in.....
It wasn't fate, it was the Lord God Almighty and he has evidenced himself in my life more times than any one person has a right to claim.

Let's be really honest, if it was a "real" war, lets say the last real war WW2, his family members would be either executed on the spot or dumped in concentration camp.

One thing the Brits haven't considered, though, is that the muslim community may someday be a majority, and when that happens, the ballot box may trump the British fighting spirit.

Well, I'm generally dissapointed with the response to my post. You'd think advocating nuking the Hijaz would get a few more replies.
I wonder if behind the doors, threats such as these have been made. I don't advocate this, but at some point, if other supposedly civilized countries such as SA, IR, PK, don't do something to stop terrorism the gloves will eventually come off. We have been pretty restrained so far.
