Hi again sistah. I just love the elegant table that I did giz and rusty's picture in. Got smart and saved it in My Documents. So glad you're continuing the thread tomorrow. I'm going to try to find some new backgrounds (always used to look under images rather that the other...no wonder I came up empty!)

Quick question though. I read you told Dolli she can view her work right out of notebook. How???? I always go to Free Republic which can be time consuming AND risky LOL! And how long have I been doing this so perhaps others besides me could benefit from a "step by step". Thanks!

I'm glad you like that 'framework' for the pics. It's just stacking table backgrounds the same way we stack them for our opening posts. :) (Yes, Google WEB will give you lots of websites with backgrounds to choose from. :)

Instructions: It's actually *notepad*, which is the simplest way to type your html text and save it as an html page.

You would type it just as you do in the FR comment posts or the FR posting form, by opening a "New Text Document" in "My Documents" (Windows XP has different ways of setting up your directories and files, so I'm not certain how everyone finds "Notepad" or even "My Documents".)

But in Notepad, when you open a New Text Document, type everything there, just as you would type in your comment post, and then go up to "File" (again, in Windows XP, I don't know the method), click on "Save as", give it a name that you want to call it, and change the .txt extension to .htm!!!

Don't close the document that you're typing in though. You will have another file with the name you gave it - it will be a 'web page'. Open it to see what you've got so far (same as in previewing at FR). Now you have two files open - one you can edit, and one you can view to see your changes. You just keep "saving" the one you're typing as the .htm extension, and you go to that page, refresh it to see the changes.

When you're finished with it, go back to the one you're typing, and back up to file/save as, and change the .htm extension back to .txt. You still have the .htm file/page, but you also have it - same name - as a text file you can edit.
