My take was that she influenced her boss to give it to him since she wan't high enough up to have done it on her own authority.

Yes, he did. I never said that he didn't.

My original response was to the statement that they "worked together" at the CIA. They did not. Yes, it's still nepotism and yes, he lied about her involvement under oath. However, he wasn't a CIA employee; only she was.
