That makes good sense. It would be optimal to know what moment he (may camel spiders infest his shorts) has chosen as his starting point. Likely dates are: The fall of the Ottoman Empire, Aug. 6, 1945, some significant date on the order of our millenium celebration, and a significant anniversay in islamic history, to name just a few.
Rereading, I see that bin Ladin (may his sister fall in love with a goat) is using August 6, 2005 as his initial reference and scheduling everything from there.
Is he so sympathetic with Imperial Japan, or does he see Hiroshima as the symbol of American (Western) threat to islam? I would think a date in keeping with the history of islam would be more meaningful at a personal level.
I know August 5th was the anniversey of something and that was why he chose that date for the embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. I can't remember off the top of my head what that "something" was. But the main thing is on August 5th it will be a week day AND it will already be August 6th in Japan, where the Hiroshima attack actually occurred.
One of the reasons a Friday was allegedly chosen in the 1998 bombings was that in Kenya & Tanzania, both with a high percentage of muslims, they were supposed to be at Friday prayers. That said, I think they still killed more muslims than Americans!
