Now, that is a dumb@$$, presumptive, liberal, gun-hating city-dweller statement if I ever read one!
Imus, armed with a gun and a knife, pulled up in his truck,
You obviously know nothing about the toolkit of a rancher or timberland owner.
Sounds just like me, when I'm out on my place, which harbors lots of timber rattlesnakes and copperheads in the underbrush. My sidearm is the tool of choice for the varmints, and my (full-sized) Bowie knife serves as a machete if need be. So keep your hippie opinions on such matters to yourself -- until you are much farther along the road to recovery!
A simple explanation would have sufficed. The description of the story intimated that the gun and knife were a part of his angry drive to make a point to the doctor. Whether or not he was carrying the gun "as usual" on a ranch has been mentioned by other posters as possible explanation. It is Imus'personality and his rage which appeared to be out of proportion here that was of concern carrying weapons.
Your reaction ws even more of an intense reaction than was merited. I am very pro-gun and conservative..so don't make ASSumptions. City dwellers have our own "rattlesnakes". And as for "ranches' come to any big city and you will think you are in the wild west. we nickname our ER's "the knife and gun club".
I stand by my comment...especially considering Imus personality and also that I doubt the drive to and from the infirmary is as wild as other parts of the ranch..especially with kids out there.
Rancher or timberland owner? That unfunny a-hole Imus is neither. He's a bum using a kid's charity as a front to build himself a fancy vacation home on other peoples money.
