Does anyone here really have a problem blasting the whole CNN crew into space?

Yeah, me. Too expensive and a waste of good resources.

The space equipment, I mean.

It would be cheaper to get one of Ted Turner's old yachts, load up the CNN crew, and sail them off in to the Bermuda
Triangle.

To those who say you could never launch a CNN anchor into orbit with one of these I say it can't hurt to try ;-)
