You can stand with an academic if you want to. I'll stand with our American leadership in a time of war.
What if they're confused, as VDH clearly argues. Are you prepared to support them even if they're wrong? Maybe they need to know that we support a more stringent approach. Are you suggesting that the war shouldn't be fought stringently? It sure sounds like you are. Are you prepared to lose the war because we weren't willing to take it up another level?
I've heard it said that President Bush has been reading VDH's writing. I hope he's listening. Perhaps he just doesn't feel he has the support of his nation yet in doing what absolutely must be done.
You never know why leaders in a free republic are doing this or that. We have to speak our mind anyway.
