Thanks for the info on Gonzales. I knew his record on gun rights was bad. I didn't know it was THAT bad. If he got on the court most of my collection would be in danger of confiscation.

What I described is simply one of the consequences of the recently expired federal "assault weapons ban".

In Kalifornia, the laws name some rifles by manufactureer and model number. There is no way to modify them to make them legal no matter how many "naughty bits" are removed.

The combination of liberal fear, politician posturing, and citizen ignorance allows gun laws which only infringe the rights of the law-abiding and have no crime reduction benefit whatever.
