"Another unrelated question. Who was the rider that US Postal and Lance would not let get into any breakaways last year? Is he in this year's race?"

Paolo Bettini, wasn't it? And, I don't think so, haven't seen him anyway.

I too would prefer more of Paul and Phil at night, but their morning broadcast is superb.

Just getting you caught up on the TDF threads... (I'll ping you to a couple of other TDF threads also)

I thought maybe Lance was playing possum with his team leaving him out to dry, but there are just too many variables to gamble on that strategy.

Playing possum is fine but just a single flat could have wiped him out in a major way. How long would it have taken him to get the Disco car to him, change the tire and then try to catch up with Vino, Ulrich and Kloeden? Those guys REALLY would have opened up then and he would have been hard pressed to catch them. IMHO it was a simple accident that he was left alond and some guys were just having a bad day at the same time.

Disco came out really strong yesterday and had a show of force and for the most part lead the Peleton.

This will get interesting tomorrow...

I remember a couple years back when a US Postal teammate, Victor Hugo Pena, had the yellow jersey I think on Stage 7 or 8 or something.

Even then, he did the work, blocking wind for Armstrong while wearing the yellow jersey. The OLN commentators said that was quite a sight to see, since you don't see it all that often.
