An
increasing number of Muslims are aware of the harm that the ideology of suicide-killing, falsely presented as "martyrdom" is causing Muslims throughout the world. For more than a year Sacramento talk show host Mark Williams has tried to get some of the tens of thousands of Muslims living in the area to come out to demonstrate against the minority who have "hijacked" Islam. No qualifying rhetoric allowed such as the U.S. is a terrorist in the eyes of many, let's stop it on both sides, etc. etc. He's offered to arrange it and pay for it.
Nothing. Not a word -- except demands by local Muslims that he be kicked off the air and, according to Mr. Williams, Muslim demands that the California legislature investigate his radio show.
The events in nearby Lodi may finally bring about a demonstration in Lodi. The Lodi mayor, bragging how close people of all faiths are, has teamed with Williams. This past week Mr. Williams announced that so far three Muslims in Lodi have indicated an interest.
I believe similar events in Phoenix and Washington, D.C. produced the same results. No interest whatsoever except for lots of do-gooders, a handful of Muslims, and if I remember correctly numerous Muslims protesting against being picked on.
Unless we hear Muslim voices condemning such attacks without any "ifs" or "buts", the would-be suicide-killer would have every reason to assume that he enjoys at least the tacit support of all Muslims.
No kidding. Maybe setting up a few internment camps would spur their interest in speaking up -- if they really object to being "hijacked."
I've lived and worked with Muslims here and in Ankara in the secular country of Turkey. Honestly, they are top notch people. The best. Turkey's army has kicked out radical Muslims from government more than once. Turkey is 99+ percent Muslims. Yes, some are radical Muslims but most are Turks.
