The National Weather Service reclassified Andrew as a Cat 4 storm several years ago. I read it in the paper, but there were no details.
I think you're right. The people who have been paying attention are going to be looking for this thread, but others always think they're the first to know and insist on posting yet another thread!

ha, lots of mistakes here tonight... guess the fact that it's almost 5am has something to do with it.
Thick circular band on Eglin radar outside of primary eyewall, however, not visible on Tallahassee or Ruskin radar, could be beam penetration difficulty.
But... it doesn't show up on Mobile radar, which has less precip to go through.
