This is a very fast moving situation.
The police are taking this very seriously.
According to the Beeb, in the Midlands alone, there have been several false alarms in the last few days alone.
There are reportedly 4,000 people on the street as a result of this alert.
News conference at 2200 BST.

We have. Sadly some local youths in the last couple of days thought it would be 'funny' to ring in hoaxes. They have caught two of them and they've been in court. This one seems morecreidible though today the police are in overdrive at the moment. Sirens etc...

The evening of 911 there were many bomb scares all over New York City.
These type of things bring out the best and worse of people

Remember the same thing happened during the IRA bombing campaign. The false alarms got so numerous that the police gave the IRA code words to use when they called in threats.
It would be funny if it were not so tragic.
