'Of those arrested, 83 are said to be non-EU citizens. Deportation orders have already been issued for 52 of them.'
EU citizens...is that a new 'passport' designation, or just an easy way to say they aren't from the western Europens countries?

Speaking from the G8 meeting in Gleneagles, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said Italy would start withdrawing 300 troops from Iraq in September. Shades of Spain?

Why did it take the bombing in London to prompt this raid? Obviously the Italian police knew where these lunatics were and what they were up to.
Answering my oen question, it has got to be because of one of the following:
1. Italian police and intelligence were spying on these groups and would not swoop in and arrest the perps until they could net the largest number of terrorists involved.
2. Political correctness along with a hopelessly left wing Italian judiciary had the authorities more terrified than the terrorists themselves. The London bombings gave them the cover they needed to make the arrests.
