Bonjour!
The eighth stage of the 2005 Tour de France is scheduled to begin at 11.30am. (5:30 AM CDT) There are 7.7km in a neutral zone before the peloton arrives at the site of the official start. The stage begins in Pforzheim and first 143.5km of the 231.5km stage are in Germany. The conclusion is in the Vosges mountains. The Col de la Schlucht which peaks at the 216km mark is the first category-two ascent of the 92nd edition of the Tour.
Oops, 4:30 AM, not 5:30 as posted above. My bad!
Hincapie virtual yellow in the breakaway.
Break over after Hincapie takes 6 in the first sprint.
Wow... Hushovd managed to join the breakaway. Awesome!! He has got a real chance now of capturing the green jersey today.
Go Thor!!!
Darned Lotto... :-P
Yup... 42 sec isn't gonna cut it. This finish could be intereesting - supposedly not enough downhill for the peleton to regroup, but I guess it depends on the weather on the way down...
Well Hushovd made the 6 points. Only 5 points behind Boonen now. Good effort...
I love how in the middle of a stage this points battles add a bit of drama.
I am looking forward to the next mountain though....
Cheers.
Go Hushovd! I like him too. Unfortunately I won't see today's finish - heading out on a ride of my own in about 15 min...
Well, have a good ride.
Should be two interesting stages this weekend, and the first half of the next.
Please, ride safer than the President :-P
Cheers.
Perhaps, I will do a bit of an update since you're leaving:
142 km Discovery Channel leads the peloton.
135 km Seven riders in the first group and Ludovic Turpin trying to bridge up.
132 km Several riders try to bridge the gap. Nicki Sørensen waits for them.
130 km Evgeni Petrov tries to bridge up to Nicki Sørensen. But he is also caught by the peloton.
128 km Nicki Sørensen is alone in the lead.
126 km Hushovd wins the intermediate sprint, but the break is almost over. Nicki Sørensen tries to counter.
Thanks - I'm off. Enjoy the race!
I'm late to the thread, too. I'm with you, off on a ride of my own. How many miles did you cover today?
Vino making a move.
Tour de France 05 has officially begun.
