Billy Graham's Daughter Arrested for Allegedly Abusing Husband

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Evangelist Billy Graham's daughter was arrested and charged with domestic abuse after witnesses told police she choked her husband in a parking lot, authorities said. Virginia Graham Foreman, 59, spent a night in jail after the July 1 confrontation outside a shopping center, police said. She was charged with misdemeanor domestic abuse and released the following day.

Three witnesses told police that Foreman pushed her husband and grabbed him by the throat, authorities said.

A Volusia County judge who presided over Foreman's first court appearance said Chad Foreman told police that witnesses had "just misunderstood what was going on between them."

No one answered the phone at the couple's home on Friday.

Billy Graham, 86, concluded a three-day revival meeting in New York City last month that he indicated could be his last.

No, I am intermittently very busy with caregiver duties. So she is no longer married to the Steve foreign-name guy I read about in post # 36...that was what I was going on. Amazing that she seems to have been known for boosting family values and for widely communicating on the subject. A tragic personal situation, it would seem.

"My remark was intended to be funny."

I know and it was. Two thumbs up.

I just read the Smoking Gun article and I think that it bears out what I was saying. The man admitted that he had provoked the incident and she says that she wasn't choking him because she knew better, that no one who knows her husband would put their hands around his neck. It sounds as though this is normal behavior in their home.

My mother was married to a man who tried to choke her, several times. Thankfully she was able to get away and call the police. When they arrived to see her with bruises, bloody nose and marks around her neck, they told her that she needed a witness, or they couldn't do anything.

Sounds like it might be a hormone (Thyroid) problem at that age.

Every woman should have a serum TSH level performed.

Or she may just be a spoiled brat unable to control her emotions.

Maybe the husband decided he just was not going to take it anymore.

Noone would even joke about that if the genders were reversed.

If the genders were reversed she'd probably have a broken nose and a fractured scull and the assault would not have taken place in public.

A tragic personal situation, it would seem.

Yes, it is. I would hope that when I'm 59, my life will be peaceful and free of that sort of personal turmoil. I'm sure it is heartbreaking to her parents as well. Very sad.

"Why was she arrested if her husband protested it?
"If he didn't press charges, why arrest her?
"Strange."

I don't know about Florida, but in some states
(such as Nevada as I understand), once the
police are called in a domestic dispute,
some one HAS to go to jail--regardless of the
feelings or statements of the spouse. The measure
is to keep the abusing spouse from taking his or
her spouse away from the police line-of-sight and
killing him or her because of anger or embarrassment

" And what's up with FLA?? Allatime in the news with weird stuff? "

Florida has become a very high stressed, fast paced environment with the crush of new residents and snow birds over the last ten years. Not enough room for new roads and traffic congestion, it now resembles another L.A. freeway.

"Unless the woman is nuts, I am pretty sure that the attack was not unprovoked. Perhaps she responded in a public situation because it was the only place that she felt safe enough to attack him, because she knew that he wouldn't hit her in public."

Could be, but it's all a guess at this point.

I hope that she gets medical help and a good place to start would be her family doctor.

This is another good example where the state is over reaching.

Thats what liberals do when they run out of other things to screw up.

Screw with citizens lives.

The state needs to stay out of peoples lives.

We have way to much interference from the police as it is.

When are people going to learn that all the intrusive laws in this world are not going to keep people from killing themselves.

She does look as though she'd been crying. The bruise on her leg makes one wonder about the rest of the story.

never really thought about strangling my husband. I don't think I could do it. maybe he will let me try this evening when he gets home.

Oh please let us know if he does! If the husband or the police allow you to, that is.

I more likely have thought about just shooting him. But not lately. Somehow all the lmurderous feelings just fade as one gets older. I settle now for irritating him and eating the very last serving of his grits. I think that makes him want to murder me. But he is a poisoner, I just feel it in my bones.

I think you'll feel poison in your nerves and organs first, but he may have found an exotic one. Are you keeping an eye on those grits before you snatch them from him? ; )

Why do I feel insane while laughing?

I don't know, but I'm pretty hysteric myself after reading this post. Thanks for the hilarity! It's a nice break from waiting for Dennis. = )

The article on smoking Gun has much more info. It says that she showed the arresting officer a large bruise on her thigh and that the husband admitted that she was just angry from an earlier incident and that she really didn't harm him.
