The Aruban government is shielding one or more perpetrators of murder of a tourist because of local politics. And then they threaten the mother of the victim with reprisal. It's the wrong message from a country dependent on tourism. How many messages like that do you think it takes before it becomes significant?

I am not apologizing for the Aruban Government. However, I really believe that they are doing all that they can with both their limited resources and experience. They have willingly allowed anyone and everyone to look for Ms. Holloway, including a search team from Texas. They have also called in the Dutch Airforce to do an air search. Additionally, they had detained Judge Van Der Sloot (sp? one of their own) and the father of Joran who is detained for questioning to this day.

Your suggesting that local politics are stalling the investigation is to my mind, sheer speculation at this point in time.

I do agree that this tragedy is a black eye for Aruba and will probably have a negative impact on tourism.

How is that an excuse? We have offered to help and they have refused both resources and expertise. It is common practice for forensic investigators to help in foreign investigations. The only reason the resources have not been brought in is because the locals are covering up the rape and murder of a tourist. Aruba is a festering cesspool; and that is all there is to it.
