If you want a real eyeopener, just go to your local library or branch and see how many people are not there! Sure, some poor souls are using the computers, but the adult literature is moved upstairs due to no traffic, and the kid's stuff is on the main level. They still have staff, but that is being cut down due to budget cuts by the cities and counties. The other 'patrons' are homeless, and those with no place else to 'hang out'. The Internet has replaced the library for most folks. It is sad, as I believe people are reading less due to the changes occurring around us.

My boys never were readers and that bothered me since I read everything I could get my hands on when young. But they are turning out fine the elder has a degree in Computer science and is a Navy Nuke and the younger will be a senior next year also C.S.
Me I still read till my eyes are worn out.
And you are very correct reading actual books has declined drastically.
