The Council of the American Library Association (ALA) has passed a resolution that calls for the withdrawal from Iraq of all U.S. military forces and a return of full sovereignty to the people of Iraq.

And Itzlzha and the REST of the sane humans have passed a resolution that REMOVES funding from ALL public libraries, and dissolves these MAXIST/STALINISTS from any/all GOVERNMENT paychecks and unions! It also kicks their addled, pro-homosexual/PEDOPHILE agenda OUT OF THE COUNTRY!

I like MY resolution better!

I have a graduate degree in library science, and believe me there are plenty of librarians who are embarrassed by the ALA. Just as the World Council of Churches doesn't really represent Protestants, the ALA is off on a tangent all its own.

"Shut up and shelve some books."

I can't remember the last time I saw a librarian actually shelve books. That's beneath them. Most libraries have unpaid volunteers or part-time nonprofessional staff to do the heavy lifting. Besides, the librarians are all busy writing resolutions calling for the troops to be withdrawn from Iraq. I'm waiting for the ALA to draft a resolution calling for the foreign thug terrorists to withdraw from Iraq.

I have always loved libraries and spent much of my youth in my little town's library. Funny thing is now I generally only check out cds and dvds there now rarely books. This is partially because my own collection of books is reaching critical mass and I may be found one day under a pile of them.

My boys never were readers and that bothered me since I read everything I could get my hands on when young. But they are turning out fine the elder has a degree in Computer science and is a Navy Nuke and the younger will be a senior next year also C.S.

Me I still read till my eyes are worn out.

And you are very correct reading actual books has declined drastically.

Well I call for shutting down every library in the country. Fire every one of those slackers. Make 'em get real jobs, or more likely, revert to being bums. As for the libraries: Sell the assests and put everything online. We can do it. It'd take time, but we can do it.

FYI:

Librarians For Terror
ALA - Guide to the Political Left
Librarians Covering for Castro

May heaven help the good people of Iraq if the ALA does to them what it's doing to the citizens of the USA.  What business is it for librarians to take a position against our government's assistance to the sovereign country of Iraq. The ALA insists on defying the US Supreme Court to continue to push porn on children while defying our government with regard to the war on terror, Iraq, the USA Patriot Act, etc.

Can anyone explain how the ALA continues to defy our government and endanger our children yet we are supposed to take them seriously? Can anyone explain how in towns where no one wants porn pushed on children, the few who do get together, call themselves library boards of trustees, and the citizens do nothing to stop them?

Read this story about a little girl terrorized in a public library, possibly as a result of the ALA's actions. Consider donating some money to help the little girl and her family recover. It's sad ALA policies are so poor that people need the help of others to recover for crimes against children occuring in public libraries by criminals revved up on unfiltered computer pornography. The US Supreme Court has intervened to stop that but the ALA just ignores the Court.
